Stop Making Excuses!

Create Stop Making Excuses and Start Making StuffI saw a facebook post about an e-book, Create: Stop Making Excuses and Start Making Stuff by Stephen Altrogge. It’s an e-book (Kindle edition) listed on Amazon for only $2.99. Yes, it’s a short book. But it’s full of wisdom, wit, and a fresh way of looking at the creative gift(s) God has given you.  And it will light a fire under you and inspire you.

Yes, maybe some of it is stuff you already know, but perhaps (for whatever reason) aren’t doing. Ahem. Pastor Altrogge’s winsome and direct approach sort of hits you between the eyes–in a good way.

Everyone has God-given gifts. It’s up to us as to how we use them. Or if we’re using them at all. God is the one you have to please, and He gave you the gift(s). To glorify Him. Are you wasting your gift? Using it to its fullest potential? Something to think about, isn’t it?

I’m excited about this book. I loved this book!  It was a real encouragement to me. I felt like I’d been whopped upside the head (more than once) with a big plank … and I liked it.

Good stuff in this book. It doesn’t matter what your gift is. It can be writing, painting, sewing, singing, or any number of other things. Maybe you have many gifts. What’s important is that God created it in you  and He has a plan for you to use it. Otherwise, He wouldn’t have given it to you. Truly, this book’s message is applicable to everyone.

I could say so much more about this book, but I’m not going to.  I want you to read it for yourself. Skip that coffee or whatever else you might spend $2.99 on and download this book. I’ll even make it easy for you. Here’s the link.

Are you ready for God to change your life?  Buckle up!

How many times have I coveted the gift given to another, and not appreciated or used my own? It’s like a small child fighting his sibling for a toy, when he already has both hands full!! Thanks for the reminder, Susie!! I feel like you’ve handed each of us a ‘do better’ slip—in a good way!! :)

Thanks, Julane. I don’t know about the rest of you, but it certainly hit home with me. Self-doubt and wasting your gift is like a disease. It can eat away at you if you don’t treat it. The good news is …. it’s curable and Jesus is the treatment! To God be the Glory — in everything we do — do as unto the Lord. No one’s perfect, but we can strive for excellence, to do OUR best. Expecting to do things just so, especially in the beginning, isn’t realistic. And there will be people who don’t like what our gift is or what we create, and that’s okay. If we feel directed and called by the Lord and know that we are to use and hone the gift(s) He gives us…well, that is what matters. YOUR gift is not someone else’s gift. Even if it’s writing, sewing, singing, or more than one gift. Someone else can be given the same gift, but it will not appear or be the same in them as it is in you. I believe that God grants them to people according to HIS will and not our own.

Oops! I’m getting carried away. =P
